The Challenge
Transforming Vast Unprocessed Data into a Personalised, Interactive Experience
InvestEngine’s mission was to redefine client engagement by delivering a personalised year-end review to each of its 100,000+ clients. To truly stand out, InvestEngine also wanted this review to be delivered in an interactive format, adding an extra layer of engagement.
With a time to launch of 4 weeks, the solution had to quickly process huge streams of live customer and financial data and turn it into personalised insights delivered in an engaging, interactive way. It also needed to scale with InvestEngine's business - all while avoiding complex data engineering for the internal team.
The Solution
Year-end reviews are typically a high-touch service associated with wealth managers and financial advisors as a form of value provision. This high-touch service often helps to justify the higher fees they charge compared to a commission-free digital investment platform.
In the context of investments, financial advisors will evaluate and analyse an individual’s entire financial picture - from investment performance, asset allocation, and risk exposure to overall portfolio health - to provide tailored recommendations and insights. However, because of the time and effort involved, these services are often limited in scale and makes it virtually impossible to provide with large user bases of investing platforms and robo-advisors.
To overcome these limitations and bring a high-touch experience to a broader audience, InvestEngine partnered with Zeed. This led to the delivery of personalised year-end reviews reaching over 100,000 clients as part of the Impact 2024 initiative.

Data-Processing
The solution securely ingested and contextualised two key types of data associated with digital investment platforms:
Client-Specific Data: Incorporating each client’s transaction history and financial profile.
Market-Wide Financial Data: Managing real-time information such as market performance, benchmarks, and product details.
Personalisation Engine
Once the data is ingested, Zeed’s Personalisation Engine kicks into action. It takes the client-specific and market-wide financial data and, in a fully compliant manner, derives smart insights on a per-user basis.
For Impact 2024 InvestEngine wanted to include insights include traditional insights associated with a year-end review, such as performance versus benchmark comparisons, fees saved relative to other platforms, but also more playful analyses like a creative roast on a client’s portfolio naming choice.
Wealth Wrapped
The final component focused on the output format, which needed to deliver insights through an engaging, branded experience. InvestEngine selected Wealth Wrapped from Zeed's output formats. This Spotify-inspired interface visualises personalised financial insights using automated animations and interactive elements. The solution was web-hosted with SDK support for in-app integration, designed to handle high user volumes while maintaining robust security and data handling.
Results
Zeed's solution delivered impressive outcomes for InvestEngine. Over 1 million personalised insights were generated for investors. In A/B tests, clients experiencing the tailored wealth review engaged 8x more than those with a generic version.
The experience led to InvestEngine's highest-ever week in referrals, exceeding previous records by over 3x. Contributions and investment inflows from referred users significantly accelerated InvestEngine's progress in crossing their £1bn AUM goal.
